About Jamie Angell
Jamie Angell is a pioneer of the contemporary art scene in Toronto. In 1996, he was at the forefront of the emerging new art district when he became the first contemporary art dealer to establish a space on Queen Street, west of Trinity Bellwood’s Park.  2011 marks the 15th anniversary of Angell Gallery. Unwavering in his mission to cultivate and exhibit artists who take risks in their work, all the while challenging the critical normal of art making in contemporary culture, Jamie has maintained this high standard and continues to push boundaries in an attempt to challenge Angell Gallery’s artists and its patrons. The gallery has profiled artists working in a variety of mediums such as sculpture, painting, video, photography, and digital media and has continued to establish a reputation for forward-thinking, unconventional, and intelligent programming.

About Stephen Bulger
Stephen Bulger engaged in photography as a hobby throughout his youth. Eventually studying at Ryerson University’s School of Image Arts, he became interested in the history of photography and began organizing exhibitions. He was asked to be the founding director of the Ryerson Gallery (located at 80 Spadina Ave.) where he managed over thirty exhibitions. After graduating from Ryerson in 1991, he worked in the photography department of the Ontario College of Art and began working on the idea of opening a gallery of his own. While employed as a technician at the Ontario College of Art and Design, he opened the Stephen Bulger Gallery (700 Queen St. West) on March 23, 1995; moving to 1026 Queen Street West in 2004. Since that time he has curated over 130 exhibitions; been the representative for numerous Canadian and international photographers; published catalogues and books; participated in many North American and European art fairs; and is President of the Board for the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD), Washington, D.C. He is also a co-founder of CONTACT, Toronto’s photography festival that celebrated its fifteenth annual event in May, 2011.
