Betty Herman was born in Montreal and studied psychology at the University of Toronto. Her psychology studies refueled her interest in art as a means of bringing forth the unconsciousness. Since graduating with honours from the Ontario College of Art and Design, Herman focused on art instruction, curatorial work and art making. Betty views her art as “a search for poetic realizations of Carl Jung's concept of the archetypal image.” Her works can be found in many private and corporate collections throughout Canada and the U.S.
