Koffler Centre of the Arts is Canada’s only multidisciplinary contemporary Jewish cultural institution with a mandate to present a wide range of artistic and educational programs, through a global lens, in a specifically Canadian context. The Koffler examines the arts across diverse disciplines and cultures, strengthening identity while encouraging an appreciation of difference. The flagship program of the Koffler Centre of the Arts is the Koffler Gallery, a public gallery soon to open a new space in downtown Toronto. This move marks a new stage in Koffler’s development.

The Koffler Centre of the Arts is currently seeking an Executive Director – a visionary leader with a keen entrepreneurial drive – to implement the Koffler’s new direction.

The Executive Director’s mandate is to support the growth and continued development of the Koffler Centre of the Arts, enhancing the reputation of the organization nationally and internationally, and building its cultural and business capacity.

The Koffler’s next Executive Director will be a community builder, possessing an inclusive leadership style that brings strong administrative and fundraising skills to our organization. The successful candidate will understand the significant role that arts institutions can play in building Jewish and civic life in the 21st Century and will demonstrate a cultural awareness – both specific to the Jewish community and, more broadly, with the contemporary world of arts and culture.

The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors of the Koffler Centre of the Arts, works closely with the Jewish Community Centres of the Greater Toronto Area, and leads a strong and dynamic professional staff.

The successful candidate will possess:

• strong financial and administrative ability
• proven management and leadership skills
• fundraising experience and experience working with donors
• excellent communications skills
• a demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative environment with both staff and volunteer board
• a post graduate degree in business, the arts or other related field
• a minimum of at least ten years of senior level experience in a similar or related enterprise
• an understanding of marketing and public relations

A competitive salary and benefits package is being offered.

To be considered for this position, interested candidates should submit their cover letter and resume, in confidence, to Natalie Kertes at nkertes@kofflerarts.org no later than FRIDAY, MAY 24, 2013, 5 PM.
The Koffler welcomes applicants from all cultural backgrounds.

No phone calls please. We thank all applicants. Only those selected for further consideration will be contacted.
